Homeward
Trails wander. The way home is one straight line.
Homeward is an arrow that always points home, for finding your way out of the woods on a bike.
Trails wander. The way back, as the crow flies, is one straight line. Mark the spot where you parked, or pick it on a map, and Homeward points straight at it from wherever you are, with how far there is to go. It doesn’t plan a route or follow the trail: it shows you which way, and you choose the path.
On your wrist
- The Apple Watch app stands on its own, with its own GPS and compass — leave your iPhone in the car
- While you ride, it keeps pointing with your wrist down on the bars, until you arrive or tap Stop
- A spot set on your iPhone reaches your watch, and one set on your watch reaches your iPhone
The arrow
- Points where you’re heading while you move, and where you’re facing when you stop
- Waits for a precise fix rather than pointing the wrong way
- Tells you when you’ve arrived
- Big and plain, to read at a glance on a moving bike
Places
- Mark This Spot, or pick one on the map
- Name it as you mark it: type a name, take one from what’s nearby, or make it home
- Every spot you’ve pointed at is kept, newest first — tap one to point there again
- Miles or kilometres, light or dark
- VoiceOver reads the arrow as a clock: “Home is at 2 o’clock, 1.5 mi away”
- English, Spanish and French
